We care about our planet, which is why our primary goal is to make our world a cleaner, greener place to live for future generations.
At eco-soar we acurately calculate CO2e emissions, providing bespoke assessments tailored to your needs, working against your KPI’s to calculate a score with a view of reducing and improving year on year.
The data you provide will be analysed and converted using government conersion factors working against the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Since 2019 the UK Government have made it mandatory for large companies/ organisations to carry out Streamlined Energy and carbon Reporting (SECR).
This impacts companies that exceed at least two of the following:-
· £36m annual turnover
· £18m balance sheet total
· At least 250 employees
Steps required include:-
· Setting Organisational and Operational boundaries
· Determine initial base year
· Outline the key environmental impacts.
· Measure· Report
- Intensity ratios – Once data has been collected, it is important and required within SECR reporting, to report against at least one intensity ratio. These will be tailored to your business type and KPI's.
- Setting a base year - Once a base year has been agreed, or sufficient data collected from a 12 month period, this will form a measure going forward, where a direct compariosn can be made as your business ascends towards net zero.
- Target setting - Once sufficient data has been collected, targets can be set, dependant upon your business needs. With a view of redcuing your enviornmental impact whilst improving efficiencies and reducing costs.
- Data verification - eoc-soar provides your business with a third party verification, ensuring your data is displayed as accurately as possible. A clear outline as to how the information has been gathered and measured against, full transparency is essential.
- Supply chain – Consideration to be made against current supply chain. Are your suppliers actively engaged in working towards their net zero targets? An organisations supply chain can make up 85-90% of all carbon emissions, communication and calculation of your supply chain is key.
- Business performance - Making changes can cost money short term, calculations to be made to reflect the impacts now and in the future, whilst maintaining business performance.
Within the report the HM Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines requests a breakdown of scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, as per the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
· Scope 1 (Direct) – These relate to aspects that are owned or controlled by a company. Examples include company vehicles or facilities in use.
· Scope 2 (Energy indirect) – These generally relate to purchased energy from a supplier. For example the electricity used to power offices areas.
· Scope 3 (Other Indirect Emissions) – Such emissions relate to those that happen as a result of an organisation, but remain outside their direct control. Scope 3 emissions make up a huge percentage of emissions so it's extemely important to measure this data to give a true transparent assessment. Examples include employee travel to a workplace and supply chain factors.
